If you are still up in the air on what to do this Labor Day weekend, consider spending a few days in beautiful La Jolla. However, be warned that once that most people come to La Jolla, they soon are picking up real estate brochures and looking for a way to spend more time in this great oceanfront community. With some of the best beaches in California and tons of events happening over the weekend, what better way is there to spend the last long weekend of the summer?
Labor Day Weekend Events In La Jolla
From the famous sand sculpting challenge to reggae music featuring Ziggy Marley, there is a little something for everyone this weekend in La Jolla. The festivities start on Friday and cruise through until Monday. Some of the fun and events include:
– Friday. The fun starts Friday with the US Sand Sculpting Challenge and 3D Art Exposition begins Friday August 30th and goes through Monday September 2nd at the San Diego ‘B’ Street Cruise Ship Terminal Pier
– Saturday. The Spike and Mike’s Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation is at the MCASD in La Jolla at 700 Prospect Street on Saturday at 7 pm and 9 pm. Also Reggae Fest featuring Ziggy Marley will be at the Del Mar Racetrack 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd.
– Sunday. Enjoy free family fun entertainment at Ellen Browning Scripps Park at La Jolla Cove. Sue Palmer and Her Hotel Swing Orchestra will be playing from 2-4 pm.
– Monday. Finish up the weekend revisiting the sand scuplting event or taking in the Festival of Sail at the Maritime Museum of San Diego.
